Head of department Augmented Vision
Scientific Director

Didier Stricker is Scientific Director and member of the Management Board of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) in Kaiserslautern where he leads the new research department „Augmented Vision".

He was appointed in 2008 as Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Kaiserslautern, where he holds the chair "Augmented Vision". From 2002 to June 2008 Didier Stricker lead the department "Virtual and Augmented Reality" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (Fraunhofer IGD) in Darmstadt, Germany. In this function he initiated and participated to many national and international projects in the area of virtual and augmented reality. He was e.g. initiator and coordinator of the European projects MATRIS (Markerless real-time Tracking for Augmented Reality Image Synthesis, www.ist-matris.org ) and ULTRA (Ultra Portable Augmented Reality System for Augmented Reality Maintenance Applications). In 2006 he received the Innovation Prize of the German Society of Computer Science for the Augmented Reality Telescope.

Didier Stricker serves as reviewer for different European or National research organizations. He organized as general chair the first "IEEE&ACM International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality" (ISMAR) 2002 in Darmstadt, Germany, and was member of the steering committee from 2000 to 2007. He is reviewers of different journals and conferences in the area of VR/AR and Computer Vision. His research interests are virtual and augmented reality, computer vision, human computer interaction and user monitoring.
