Starting in April 2004 Tobias Nöll studied Computer Science with a focus onVisualization Systems and Technomathematics at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. In July 2009 he finished his studies with a German diploma degree (MS equivalent) in Computer Science (Thesis title: “Robust Camera Position Estimation by Integration of a priori Information”). In November 2009 Tobias Nöll joined the Augmented Vision group at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern to work in the context of the project OrcaM. He was deeply involved in all stages of the OrcaM acquisition device development, from initial conceptualization, development and research of novel methods in the fields of geometry and appearance acquisition, (C++) implementation to final visualization of the reconstructed results. He researched in the fields of Object Acquisition / Computer Vision / Image Processing. His thesis entitled “Efficient Representation of Captured Geometry and Reflectance” was presented to the PhD commission in September 2015 and he was awarded the degree “Doctor of Engineering / Dr.-Ing.”.His main research interest are 3D acquisition, 3D reconstruction, Structure-from-Motion (SfM), Structured Light and reflectance acquisition. A list of publications can be found here.
