Norbert Schmitz received his diploma thesis at the University of Kaiserslautern in the year 2005 where he developed a localization system for the mobile outdoor robot RAVON. He continued his work in the robotics research laboratory of Prof. Berns where he received his PhD in 2011. The research topic was the sensor data processing of humanoid robots for natural human-robot interaction. After the PhD he gained industrial experience in the field of autonomously guided vehicles at psb intralogistics GmbH in Pirmasens. Since May 2012 he joined the research group of Prof. Stricker as senior researcher.
