Abstract:
In this paper we present an overview about concepts and potentials of augmented reality applications for future manufacturing scenarios. We demonstrate two different augmented reality-based personal applications, which are currently implemented in the SmartFactoryKL demonstration plant. The first application represents a straightforward approach based on low-cost hardware and open-source software components, whereas the second application is a rather visionary assistance system, comprising advanced sensory capabilities, data fusion and artificial intelligence methods for task analyses. Both systems are designed to support and facilitate the work of plant operators and service-technicians in complex technical environments.
