Johannes Köhler studied computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany with a focus on visualization systems and technomathematics. Research topics during his studies included volume rendering and multimodal visualization. He finished university with a diploma thesis on robust detection and identification of circular markers in July 2009. In November 2009 he joined the Augmented Vision group at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and is currently pursuing a PhD in the field 3D reconstruction. He was deeply involved in all development stages of OrcaM, the first full-spherical device for simultaneous geometry and reflectance acquisition. Currently, Johannes Köhler is working on a further, novel scanning device that will extend the capabilites of OrcaM and the applicability of our scanning technolgy in the future. His PhD-thesis will be completed in the first quarter of 2015.
Johannes Köhler’s main research interests include 3D scanning/reconstruction, camera/projector/light source calibration and reflectance acquisition.
